Outdoor Autumn Day Retreat
with Great River Tendai Sangha
Gyodo is a Japanese term referring to a wide variety of walking meditation practices, often while chanting mantras or sutras.
During this day of practice, we will walk approximately 4 miles on moderately difficult unpaved trails, recite mantras of the Five Wisdom Buddhas (Godai Nyorai), and visit stupas. The set of trails is laid out in a forested park in the form of a mandala honoring the Godai Nyorai.
Logistics:
Please pack a vegetarian lunch for yourself, water to stay hydrated, and a little snack to share.
After an opening introduction, we will walk together from the parking lot of Kunzang Palyul Choling (KPC), the Tibetan Buddhist temple in Poolesville MD, to their Peace Park across the street.
If you need a ride to the event, please contact us so we can make arrangements.
UPDATED INFO due to cold weather forecast:
We may meet up at a coffee shop (probably Starbucks at 10146 River Rd, Potomac, MD) for the introduction before heading to the walk site. Also, we may end earlier in the afternoon to have lunch together somewhere indoors.
