Spring O-Higan
One-Day Retreat
Saturday, March 21st, 2026
From our head temple Tendai Buddhist Institute Tendai-shu New York Betsuin, Monshin-sensei, the Abbot, and Shumon-sensei, Managing Director, will be coming to lead this special daylong retreat with us in DC! It's rare and honored opportunity to meet up with them locally.
The day will include gongyo chanting service ritual, meditation and various practices, Dharma talks, group discussion, ceremony for three sangha members taking refuge and lay precepts, and catered vegetarian lunch. All levels, beginners, and newcomers are welcome to attend. Topics presented will be:
- The Six Perfections (six paramitas)
- Genshin's Ōjōyōshū about Amitabha Buddha Pure Land practices

Suggested Donation: $75. We humbly encourage you to give what you can; no one will be turned away for lack of funds. RSVP below will take you to the event donation page for online payment. Checks and cash will also be accepted at the event.
If formally taking refuge, please also assist with the cost to provide your hangesa (lay robe worn around the neck) and nenju bracelet. Make checks $65 payable to Karuna Tendai Dharma Center or KTDC.

Optional Dinners out with the senseis on Friday 3/20 7:00 PM before retreat and Saturday 3/21 after retreat ends. Please get in to touch with Seimon to coordinate if you'd like to join one or both evenings.
