THIS EVENT FOR SATURDAY NOV. 18TH IS CANCELED. Due to chance of rain, we decided not to hazard hiking on trails that get muddy and slippery. We will try rescheduling for a Saturday in December, so stay tuned.
------------
Gyodo is a Japanese term referring to a wide variety of walking meditation practices, often while chanting mantras or sutras. During this day of practice, we will be hiking unpaved forest trails just a few miles beyond the Washington, DC Beltway. The set of trails is laid out in the form of a mandala honoring the Five Wisdom Buddhas (Godai Nyorai).
The day will include hiking approximately 4 miles of moderately difficult trails and practices (guided meditation & mantras) centering on the Godai Nyorai.
Please bring a vegetarian lunch for yourself and a small snack to share. A light vegetarian breakfast will be provided before service.
If you need a ride to the event location, please contact us.
We will carpool and meet in the parking lot of KPC for an introduction before crossing the street to the Peace Park.
