As Great River Tendai Sangha, we are a Buddhist temple community dedicated to practicing and sharing the teachings of Tendai-shu Buddhism in the Washington, DC metro area, with members from Virginia, Maryland, and DC.

We warmly welcome newcomers, strive to cultivate an inclusive community for all, and are interfaith and LGBTQIA+ affirming.
We gather weekly for chanting liturgy and meditation. As of February 2024, we regularly meet on Sunday mornings at the DC temple of the Nipponzan Myohoji Buddhist order, who are treasured Dharma friends kindly hosting space for the Tendai Sangha. We acknowledge and honor that we practice on the ancestral lands of the Nacotchtank and Piscataway people.
